Quietness of God

I sit.
I wait…
for the wind of His Spirit to touch my face. For heaven’s breath to awaken my dreary soul. For holy hands to loosen the grip of black fear that suffocates my every night.

I sit.
I wait…
for His gentleness to clear away yesterday’s cobwebs. For His tenderness to whisper mercy to every space of my soul. For His enthralling love to bring me back to the passion I once knew.

I sit.
I wait…
for Hope to enter courageously. Peace to dwell deeply. Life to flourish purposefully.

I sit.
I wait.

It’s quiet.  He is quiet.  But I know He is near.
He is here.  With me.  In all I do.  In all I don’t do.
He loves.
Me.
Quietly.
As I sit.  And wait.

What are you waiting for?

Here or somewhere…be real.
Share your journey.

  1. Psalm 27:14 "Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He SHALL strengthen your heart! Wait I say on the Lord." As I sought His face, seeking my rescue, my deliverance, He asked me to wait a little while longer and with all authority He looked me in the eyes and said, "Surely your deliverance WILL come!"

  2. Waiting is so hard, but the more I learn of Him, the more I know it's the wise thing to do. Moving in my own strength just gets me in trouble!

  3. Beautiful post. Thank you for reminding me that He is there in the waiting. I'm so quick to fill the silence with MY requests, MY activity, MY...there's a sad pattern of 'my' in there, instead of focusing on HIM! By the way, as always, LOVE the relevant worship. :)

  4. I think quiet and stillness is good! I think God does more in the "quiet" times than He does at any other in our lives. Those are the times He does the deep, hidden work beneath the surface of our lives and without that--nothing new would grow. Can't wait to see the fruit of what He is planting in this season! -C

  5. Very well written and I love every word that you write. Recently I lost my 23 yr. old son and I know that I am being helped by God. He takes some of my pain and it is amazing that I feel good and content at this time. God is the best... debbie
